History of ARI in South Africa
ARI Have been active in the South African water industry since its inception as a supplier of air valves in the irrigation industry. The original plastic air valve has a unique "Rolling Seal" design which gives it a small orifice which is at least 10 times bigger than most air valves in the world. This patented design is still used in the complete range of air valves supplied by ARI today and provides one of the unique technical benefits the ARI Air valve has to offer.
In its initial stage of entry into the South African Water and Sewage industry in 1992, the ARI product was not fully accepted by the designers of projects because of the specifications which had become the norm and written around a certain local manufacturer.
In about 1998 ARI launced its version of a 2-stage closing "non-slam" design with full bore orifice. This valve has been designed with worldwide input from experts (including South African academic authorities) and has been extensively tested and accepted by the major water authorities. When the valve was first launched the opposition made claims about the inferior intake capacity of air valves with ball floats under dynamic conditions. In order to settle this argument once and for all, a test was undertaken at one of the gold mines which dispelled these doubts about ARI's capacity. A report of these tests can be made available if required. Also given in this brochure are actual capacity charts for the whole range of valves, which tests have been verified by French laboratories of CESAME - Centre Atlantique de Metorologie et d'essais. ARI also had a few selected sizes of their air valves tested at the CSIR in 1994 as verification of ARI Published figures. A copy of this report number AERO 94/08 is readily available.
ARI also have a large test rig at their facility in Isreal where all the development work is conducted and verified. With its innovative designs which solve practical problems that air valve designers have experienced over the years, ARI have become the largest air valve manufacturer in the world.
With the ARI 10 year guarantee against large orifice seal leakage, ARI air valves offer large benefits which most other manufacturers cannot match.
